Description
This is the first weather station in its price range to use frequency hopping spread spectrum radio to transmit and receive data up to 1000' (300 m) line of sight. That's over three football fields in lengthand three times farther than competing stations!
The Davis Vantage Pro2 still offers the same great features of original Vantage Pro such as forecasting, on-screen graphing, and much more. Quick view icons show the forecast at a glancesunny, partly sunny, cloudy, rain or snowwhile a moving ticker-tape display gives more details.
Davis Instrument's integrated sensor suite combines a rain collector, temperature and humidity sensors, and anemometer into one packagemaking setup easier than ever and improving performance and reliability.
24-Hour Fan-Aspirated Radiation Shield
Model 6153 includes Davis Instruments patented 24-hour fan-aspirated radiation shield for maximum accuracy of temperature and humidity readings.
A motor-driven fan draws air through the sensor chamber 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Air flow across the sensors is 500 feet per minute (2.5 m/s). At night, when the effects of radiation are less, the solar-powered model runs on battery power and the air flow is 280 feet per minute (1.4 m/s). In far northern latitudes, or in areas with extended periods of heavy cloud cover, there may not be enough sunshine to power the fan or recharge the battery 24/7. However, as the level of sunlight goes down, the need for fan aspiration also diminishes. The fan will start running and the battery will recharge as soon as sufficient sunlight returns.
What else is in the box?
Includes Vantage Pro2 console/receiver, integrated sensor suite (ISS), and mounting hardware. The ISS includes rain collector, temperature and humidity sensors, anemometer, 40' (12 m) anemometer cable, and solar panel. Temperature and humidity sensors are enclosed the patented, solar-powered, 24-hour fan-aspirated radiation shield. Shield combines active and passive aspiration to minimize the effects of radiation.
Outdoor sensor suite (ISS) is solar powered with a 3-volt Lithium battery for backup (included). (Battery typically needs replacement once every 1-2 years depending on your lattitude and is commonly available.) Console may be powered using the included AC-power adapter or with three C batteries (not included).
Wireless range is up to 1000' (300 m) outdoors, line of sight. Typical range through walls under most conditions is 400' to 500' (120 to 150 m).
Switches between metric and U.S. units of measure with the push of a button.
All components manufactured in California, USA.
One year manufacturer's warranty against defects.
Mounting pole not included. With the supplied U-bolt, the ISS can be mounted on a pole or rod having an outside diameter ranging from 1" to 1.75" (25 44 mm).
